Narrative Description of Project:

• Conduct macro analysis of the urban mobility problems of these cities and identify reasons that cause traffic congestions at city major inlets, junctions and nodes and at any other locations necessary to address traffic problems. • Evaluate the existing traffic handling arrangements being practiced in the city and propose various options, modifications, infrastructure requirements, which may provide short-term solution, leading towards smooth traffic, flow in the city. • Develop transport plans for these cities that may ultimately address the underlying traffic problems, and suggest prioritized projects. These plans shall provide directions to the KPK government for adopting systematic approach in the implementation of transport infrastructure, to develop an adequate, modern and innovative transportation system that accommodates and provides for the city by current and future needs and the demands of these cities.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff within the Assignment:

• To collect and assemble data by conducting field surveys and assembly of planning data. Field surveys would include: 1. Household Interview Surveys 2. Stated preferences Surveys 3. In-vehicle surveys : in public transport lines (formal) 4. Car interception od surveys 5. Interurban terminal od surveys 6. Vehicle counts & occupancy 7. NMT focus groups 8. Noise surveys 9. Public transport interview surveys • To process and analysing data by developing a calibrated model and analysing corridor and junctions through that model to identify congestion points and corridors and further examine the reasons for congestion. • To finalize the alternatives for various time horizons by developing various alternatives, assembling the future land use, preparing polices for testing, and evaluating the performance for those policies. • To develop a traffic management plan by finalizing preliminary design for finalized alternatives, estimating preliminary cost for each finalized option and preparing for economic appraisals.
