Dr. Shahid Alam

Expertise: Structural Engineering
- Dr. Shahid is the man behind the organization, he is the driving force.
- He founded Exponent Engineers in 2002, and he has been acting as the Managing Director.
- He earned Master’s and Doctor of Engineering degrees in civil engineering from Japan.
- He has more than 40 years of experience
- He has worked on numerous infrastructure projects encompassing bridge design, roads & highways, urban railways, urban planning, transportation & mass transit systems, ports & harbor, feasibility studies etc.
- His geographic experience spans Pakistan, Singapore, Dubai, Doha, Malaysia, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan.
- He also has extensive experience in research & teaching. He has been associated with NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi for the last 30 years.
- PEC awarded him “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the President of Pakistan, in October 2022.

- Mr. Ashar Hashmat Lodi is Director of Transportation & GIS Department
- He earned Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand in 1996.
- He has been involved in a variety of projects involving Transportation Planning & Engineering at mega level.
- He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, Transport Modelling, Mass Transit Design & Operations, Geometric Design & GIS development at enterprise level.
- He has worked on large scale projects with major donor agencies including ADB, JICA, World Bank, AFD & USAID.
- He has been a regular member of visiting faculty at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, for past 25 years, where he is working as Associate Professor delivering lectures at graduate level.
- He has also been involved in the applications of GIS to various fields including transportation & infrastructure engineering.

- Previously he served as Country Director and Managing Director of Meinhardt, Pakistan and worked on various infrastructure development projects.
- He earned Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from NED University in 1983, and his M.Sc. in International Construction Management & Engineering from University of Leeds, UK.
- He has more than three decades of experience in Pakistan and Middle East in the field of Construction and Project Management

- He possess over 35 years of experience in Sustainable Development & Planning, Environmental Management Systems, Environmental & Social Assessments, Resource Conservation, Energy Management, Pollution Control & Monitoring, Climate Change Policies, Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems, etc.
- He has extensive experience of providing consultancy services and expertise to a variety of industries, infrastructure projects, NOGs, and institutions and public sector organizations.

Mr. Mohsin Iqbal is the Technical Director (Transportation Engineering). Mr. Iqbal has nearly 35+ years of experience in Project Planning, Coordination & Management; Value Engineering and Project Cost/Budgeting; Survey and NDT Planning and Analysis; GIS & Remote Sensing Planning & Analysis; Systems Analysis & Design etc. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from NED University of Engineering & Technology (NED), Karachi, Pakistan in 1981. He has worked on projects involving infrastructure development like Alternative Energy (Wind Power), Ports & Harbours; Highways & Roads; Canal & Irrigation Planning; Dams & Ancillary Structures Planning; Aerial/ Satellite/GPS/Topographic & Bathymetric Surveying, and very high precision GPS Controls setup etc.
Mr. Iqbal has work experience of UAE and Pakistan with clients, consultants and contractors on projects of international repute. He has wide spectrum of knowledge based with certifications like Value Engineering, Energy Conservation, GIS & Remote Sensing, Wind Power Projects Development, Wildlife & Forestry Conservation, Basic Monitoring & Evaluation, and Social Engineering.

Farhatullah A. Khairi

Mr. Farhatullah A. Khairi is the Chief Engineer in Structural Engineering Department. He has more than 40+ years of experience in Structural Planning, Designing and Supervision of different types of buildings including industrial, power generation, hydraulics, pump houses, commercial, storage and communication structures. He has graduated from NED College, Karachi in 1970, and he is the member of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
He has worked on few major construction based projects including (Steel Mill), Six (6) numbers 210 MW thermal power plants at Bin Qasim, 4×4.367 MW Pasni Diesel Power Station, Armed forces Medical city, Pakistan Navy sport complex, New office building of state Bank at North Nazimabad, Cement plants for Javedaan (1000tpd) and Galadari (2000tpd), Operation and control buildings for Pakistan Steel, Gadani water works and Industrial Alcohol plant at Khazana Sugar Mills and foundation for communication Green Field and Roof Top Sites for Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Siemens & Telenor projects.

- She has a vast experience in Structural Planning, Designing and Supervision of different types of Buildings and non-building structures, Telecommunication tower structures and MSC buildings.
- She also has experience of Condition Assessment and Structural Evaluation of Telecommunication Structures.

Sara Pervaiz
M.E. Transportation Engineering, NED University, Karachi, Pakistan.
Expertise: Transportation Engineering
Sara Pervaiz has 17+ years of experience in the field of Transportation Engineering. She is leading the Highway Design Department at Exponent Engineers (Pvt.) Limited. She did her Bachelors in Civil Engineering from NEDUET in 2007, and completed her Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from NEDUET in 2010. She got her PE (Professional Engineer life time) license from Pakistan Engineering Council after giving 8 hours exam, she is also a member of IEP (Institute of Engineers Pakistan).
Her area of expertise is Geometric Design of Highways. During her professional carrier she has been involved in the geometric design of roads (highways / urban roads), interchanges, at-grade intersection, roundabout and leading various survey projects (roads and pipelines). Her additional capabilities include the preparation of detailed Bill of Quantities of road projects. She has experience of road design in projects of Pakistan, Oman and UAE.

Ali Asghar Raza

Mr. Ali Asghar Raza, a Professional Civil Engineer with a B.E (Civil) from UET Lahore (First Division, 1976), has over 41 years of experience in contract management, supervision, planning, and rehabilitation of diverse civil engineering projects. He has received training in Primavera, financial management, programming, and e-commerce and is an active member of professional societies. His work spans both Pakistan and international markets, including over eight years in Saudi Arabia on World Bank and USAID projects. His major projects include ports, harbors, container handling, oil jetties, flyovers, buildings, roads, and highways.
He has extensive experience working with employers, contractors, and consulting engineers, both local and multinational. His expertise includes project inception planning, tender document preparation, FIDIC-based contract drafting, tender evaluation, construction supervision, and progress monitoring. He is well-versed in FIDIC contract management and contractual communication, ensuring efficient execution of construction projects.

Bilal Khalid

Dr. Muhammad Bilal Khalid is an experienced urban planner with a strong academic foundation, including an MSc in Spatial Planning from Oxford Brookes University and an ongoing Ph.D. in Urban Planning from NED University. He also holds an MBA in Marketing and diplomas in Project Management, Advanced GIS & Remote Sensing, and Data Analytics. He posses over 15 years of diversified professional experience. As a licentiate member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (UK), he is well-versed in urban and regional planning tools, with expertise in GIS, AutoCAD, and Power BI.
Professionally, he has led major urban transport and planning projects across Pakistan, including the Green & Orange Line BRTS in Karachi. Currently serving as General Manager Spatial Planning & Analytics at Exponent Engineers, he previously held key roles at SIDCL and founded the research platform Urban Nerves. His work integrates planning, analytics, public policy, and communication. He also teaches urban planning and project management as visiting faculty at several universities in Karachi.

Mr. Moazzam Zaidi is General Manager at Exponent Engineers (Pvt.) Limited. Previously he served Pakistan Army as Colonel. He has worked on various infrastructure development projects. He is a seasoned civil engineer and project manager and has over 29 years of experience in infrastructure development, specializing in project management and supervision. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with top-tier consultants and contractors in Pakistan, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in large-scale projects. His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and oversight, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Shoaib Alam

Mr. Shoaib Alam is a Principal Engineer in the Structural and Infrastructure Engineering Department. He has about 15 years of diversified professional experience in the Design, Supervision and Client Coordination of various Structural and Infrastructure and Telecom Projects. He has done his Bachelors in Civil Engineering in 2007 and completed his Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering in 2011, both from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi.
He has an expertise in the design and Vetting of Infrastructure Elements such as Bridges, Underpass and Culverts. He also has good Experience in designing the Telecom Structures and their foundations and also the building Structures. He possesses excellent Coordination and Project Management skills. He has a thorough knowledge in field of design and understanding of the Design Codes and Standards used in the industry.
His Major Infrastructure projects include Dualization of Karachi-Thatta Dual Carriageway, Bahria Town Underpasses, etc. His major projects in the Telecom field are with Clients such as Huawei, Mobilink, Ufone etc.

Mr. Kamran Zulfiqar is a Principal Engineer in the structural engineering department. He has 15 years of diversified professional experience in management, supervision, design, and consultancy of civil engineering projects. He completed his master’s degree in construction and Engineering Management from Superior College Lahore in 2020 & Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering and Design in 2008 from UET, Lahore.
