Narrative Description of Project:
Karachi Northern Bypass referred (KNBP) as M10 is a 53 km long road connecting Karachi Port and several Industrial Areas in Karachi to the up country. Unlike other freight routes in the city, only KNBP provides 24 hours connectivity of Karachi Port & Industrial areas in the city north to up country. Existing road is 2 lanes 2-way road, considering its importance, the road is in poor operating condition. Thie USP aims to convert M10 into a dual 4-lane carriageway under DFBOT. The USP had following objectives:
• Connecting Karachi Port to M-9 & nearby surrounding areas with a road that operates all day long.
• Helping to reduce traffic and road deterioration on Urban Streets in Karachi.
• Improving area aesthetics and road user safety.
• Socio-economic development and increasing trade and services along roadside and transferring microeconomic benefits to local population.
• Helping to reduce travel time & cost and contributing to economic development of the country.
• Improving linkage with other provinces & facilitating to increase mobility.
